Messianic Prophecy: The Promises
Messianic Prophecy refers to the promises, (given by God to his designated prophets) foretelling an "anointed one" or Savior that would atone for the sins of mankind. Messiah is the Hebrew name for the Savior and prophecies about Him are labeled messianic prophecies. I label these as promises and not predictions since many people have and can predict future events, but there is no guarantee they will come true. In fact, most man-made predictions will not come true.

One hundred percent of God’s promises have, can, and will come true -- guaranteed. We see the undeniable evidence of this by looking at the Bible’s Old Testament Messianic Prophecies. They were recorded by several prophets over a period of many years, all being made hundreds of years before their fulfillment in the New Testament and since.

Messianic Prophecy: The Proof
Messianic prophecy includes dozens of scriptures promising and describing the birth of the Messiah (His first coming). There are many more telling of His ministry, rejection, crucifixion, resurrection, and second return of the Savior. It must be recognized that the odds of any one, single being, fulfilling even a dozen of these prophecies with 100 percent accuracy would not be feasible. This is possible only by God’s supernatural power. Yet Jesus Christ (coming as the Son of God), has done this and God’s promises have stood the test of time for more than 2000 years.

There are far too many messianic prophecies to list, but here are just a few in each category. You will see where they are foretold and then the fulfillment:

His first coming: His ministry: His rejection, suffering a horrible crucifixion and glorious resurrection: There are well over 100 Old Testament prophecies (a conservative estimate) concerning the Messiah. Jesus is the only one who fulfilled every one. He rose from the dead three days after His crucifixion as foretold. Before Jesus’ witnessed ascension to take his place beside God the Father, He once again told his disciples that He would return.
